What is mindful listening?
Mindful listening is the practice of giving someone your full, undivided attention — without interrupting, judging, or rushing to offer solutions. It's being truly present with another person so they feel genuinely heard, often for the first time in a long time.
Who can benefit from this service?
Anyone who is carrying something heavy and needs a safe space to talk. You don't need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, unheard, anxious, stuck, or simply like you need someone to talk to — this space is for you.
How do sessions work?
Sessions are held by phone or video call — from wherever you are, in the comfort of your own space. You share whatever feels present for you, at your own pace. There are no scripts, no pressure, and no expectations. I simply listen, reflect, and hold space for whatever you're carrying.
Is this service confidential?
Yes — completely. Everything you share is held with care and kept private. The only exceptions are rare safety situations: if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, or if there is concern that a child has been or is at risk of being harmed. Outside of these situations, your conversations remain between us.
How do I book a session?
Head to the Sessions page to choose the session length that feels right for you. From there you can book directly through the calendar. If you're unsure where to start, the free 20-minute intro call is always a great first step — no obligation, just a conversation.
What if I need immediate help?
Voices & Journeys is a supportive, non-crisis service. If you are in immediate distress or danger, please reach out to your local emergency services or a crisis hotline right away. In Canada you can reach Crisis Services Canada at 1-833-456-4566, available 24 hours a day. Or call or text 9-8-8
No — and that distinction matters. Voices & Journeys is a non-clinical emotional support service. I am not a therapist or counsellor, and sessions are not a substitute for professional mental health care. What I offer is something different — a human, unhurried space to be heard and to allow thoughts and feelings to unfold naturally. This service can be used on its own or alongside therapy and other supports.
